Okay, I know this sounds probably really dorky and I'll be the first to admit I am a Geek at heart, but anything written by JRR Tolkien. There is a lot of religion in it, if you can understand how he writes. I usually even have to read something more than once. A lot of catholic underlay is in it, but there is a lot of...not pagenism, but -the word is eluding me at the moment.
The second isn't a book per say, but magazines. Guideposts, and Awake. If you want to find reassurance that there is a larger force in the universe those are very to good reads.

There are many books that I LOVE LOVE LOVE, so this question is very difficult.

But of all the books I read that really, had I not read them, life would be different now (and religious texts is not an allowed answer):

"Dark Heart" by Betsy James. It's the book that made me get ideas for the story I am writing now, that I hope to publish some day. :D

You know, there are so many. Literature is just a cornerstone of my life and the way I see the world.

So for that reason, I'd have to say "The Flowers of Evil" by Charles Baudelaire, simply because it's the first serious book that I read, and that started me going on a life-long passion.

Stranger in a Strange Land and Fahrenheit 451 definitely twisted my head around in a way it wouldn't have been otherwise at 16. Probably ruined me for life ; )

I used to be very shy. I found it very difficult to talk to people I knew, let alone strangers. Then I was promoted into a job where I needed to talk to strangers. Barbara Walters wrote a book titled something like "How To Talk To Almost Anyone." It was full of exercises and tips and I overcame my fears of talking to other people.
