I don't know the little ones age.... But as far as gifts are concerned....my suggestion is to keep it simple. FInd something that will engage the child's interest and something they can play with and sleep with.
As for traditions.... you can read to the child and try to show them the pictures. Do it every year.... Something like "Twas the night before Christmas" is a good one.
I used to bake cookies and breads so my daughter would have times to look back on. We'd share the cookies with family....and on an occasion or two, we shared them with the homeless that were sitting out on Christmas day. This made her feel good as a little girl.
Decorating the tree and the house has been a tradtion in our home. We even do the front door. And I have tried to buy her a special ornament every year since she was born (so she'd have her own, when grown up).
Takes lots of pictures for the future......

It's a busy time, so try to be considerate and manage her schedule and help her get her rest and avoid overstimulation. Looking out for her needs in spite of the chaos is the best way to make sure she feels loved.
She won't remember this year, so just try to get a few cute pictures of her smiling to show her when she's older. Board books, teddy bears, and some age-appropriate jingly toys are all she could want.
Two things I love to do - make a gingerbread house, and take the kids for walks to see the Christmas lights. Even as babies, they love the lights. I highly recommend this if you have the opportunity.

Buy a new ornament toget her every year to add to your memories...starting with babys first christmas.. buy the christmas countdown card.. where she you can get the candy out 1 each day ..those are cute ..... with christmas eve traditions ... You can go to mass? you can allow one gift to be opened on christmas eve....Set out milk and cookies for santa.... Reading the Night before christmas before bedtime, singing Christmas Carols.... Watching Rudolph and Frosty. retro cartoons! those are always classic... Christmas day ... Christmas breakfast.... Go to the inlaws after santa... Make christmas cookies and decorate them... WATCH THE CHRISTMAS STORY thats a must... lol There are so many things you can do ... what ever is in your heart! and your traditions you weant to pass on.... Happy Holidays!

We always try and go to church and then we come home and leave cookies and milk for Santa. We always give/get new jammies on Christmas eve and right before bed we read The Night Before Christmas. By the way, I made little jingle bell wreaths to hang on the door knobs of all my children's doors so I'm sure to hear them come out of their rooms on Christmas morning. You don't want to miss any thing. I know your little sweetie is still in a crib but it's fun to start planning these things! Congratulations and have fun!!!

This is a GREAT idea.. I saw it in a magazine about 35 years ago.
Put baby in a womans size bikini and take her picture.
Do this every year until she fits into the bikini!
My kids and I make nut bread and Christmas cookies. We all wear red pajamas to bed Christmas eve.
We only drink from Santa Clause mugs.
When we open presents we throw the wrapping paper at each other. My oldest daughter puts everyone's bows on her head!

Make sure you get a "Babies first Christmas" ornament for the tree with 2007 on it. We buy special ornaments for my son every year. Usually the theme is something that he was really interested in for that year. Last year it was trains, this year it will be trucks.

This is my baby's first Christmas as well. He was born May 3, 2007. I will start with his very first Christmas tree ornament and continue with the ornaments until I die.
