Prohibitions like prostitution, alcohol, and drug laws are religious versions of liberal, cradle to grave, legislation.

They have very little effect on the vices except to make participation much more dangerous than when it was legal and adding a revenue source to gangsters.

The arguments in favor of the laws are always irrational.

"We must protect the children." or "Society had gone down enough already."

They can never argue, "This will stamp out prostitution from the country forever.", because they know they have no such power over human vice.

I think the real reason why such laws are enacted is because religious people, who are not allowed to indulge, feel much more envious than disgusted and want to make the lives of those who chose to enjoy the vice more difficult.

Social liberals do the same thing with cigarettes.

Yes I agree 100% to making it legal!
Why! It would be another taxable income plus regulated by laws would help curb sexually transmitted problems.

No. Why would we legalize it? What good could possibly come out of it. Sure, some girls can make money, but then again, everyone gets the herp, and only the herp if they are lucky. our society has degraded sex already. many cant have the best sex possible because they do it casually, cheat on their spouses, do it outside of marriage or other things that hinder the quality of sex. there are many reasons why sex should stay within marriage. STDs are one reason obviously.

I'd support it if it could be regulated in a way that would prevent the abuse and exploitation of the participants. Barring that, no.

No, because I don't want to live in a society where sex is sold all around me and my children. Especially my children.

Children should be shielded from some adult activities and it's hard enough to raise them as it is.
