Smart is too objective to be a requirement-what one person considers smart another may consider less than average and vice versa. In general, all that is required to homeschool is a love of learning and a dedication to your child's education. As long as your parents have those qualities, there is no reason that they can't find a way to successfully homeschool you.

That being said, homeschooling laws are different in every state, and some states do have minimum education level requirements (saying a homeschooling parent must be a high school graduate or have an AA/BA degree, etc). However, some other states do not. You can find the legal homeschooling requirements for your state at this website:

Good luck!

If you want your parents to be the ones that teach you, yes it'd help for them to be intelligent. However, not everyone who is homeschooled is taught by their parents. I know a girl who was in a wheelchair for 8 months and couldn't go to school, and a hired tutor came to her house to homeschool her.

No you get books in the mall that will help you with the information that is needed to be home schooled.......... You can get a tutor if you are having trouble with the information that is in some of the books they will be mailed to you and you have to ship them back through the mail and some days you may have to take a test with the state to prove that you are learning in the program

No, they just need to make sure your attendance is reported to the department of education and you are in home school groups where you are getting the lessons you need. You would also need to enroll at the local boys and girls club, or YMCA in order to get your gym requirements.

Homeschooling can get you very unsocial and it can be very lonely. Believe me, Ive been homeschooled many times.

They don't have to be.
My brother was home schooled, and my mom honestly didn't know that much of what she was trying to teach him.
So, no, they don't need to be, but it's better if they know at least the basics.

There is also a program {at least where I live} where you can have a teacher come and teach you.

well it would help since they have to explain stuff to you. But you can always look it up in the Internet and stuff. So i guess they dont have to be geniuses but they cant be totally dumb either.
