Palace Station is a really nice place and reasonably priced. Great food and the casino is really comfortable. Not the best location but they have a free shuttle to the strip and airport all day long. If you are driving it is even a better choice with the free parking and easy to drive where ever you want to go.
Stay away from Circus Circus unless you have kids. Kids everywhere there. So stay clear. Rooms are priced low but the kids.

I think the Monte Carlo is a quality, reasonably priced hotel on the Strip. The hotel wasn't designed to compete with luxurious design of The Wynn and The Venetian, but it is clean, smoke-free and in a good location. The staff is friendly and the rooms are well maintained.
I agree that Circus Circus is not the way to go. Too many kids to make the low room rates worth it. I'd also stay away from the Hilton, unless you are going on business.

The last time I was there I was at Imperial Palace. It was ok. It's in a good location. I have also stayed at the Riviera. The pool was much nicer at the Riviera. We had a nice stay there. You're down at the end of the strip, but it's not a big deal to walk or catch the bus down further on the strip.
Stay away from Circus Circus. The rooms are cheaper, but way too many families with kids. Kids everywhere. I would pass on that one! Pay the little extra to stay some place else.
We priced our rooms and trip on lasvegas.com. Good luck.

Hi! The Orleans Hotel and Casino has something for everyone, and it is only a few minutes from the Strip. Featuring a bowling center, casino, spa, a movie theater, and its own arena, the Orleans Hotel and Casino is only one and a half miles from the Las Vegas Strip, yet contains all of the activities and fun.
The price is really cheap starting at @ $25. More hotels are priced at around $50.

i always stay on the strip.that is why i go to las vegas.excalibur is less expensive and in a great location but don't expect a very fancy room.the rooms are nice but average and of course very clean.i have stayed many times and have always been satisfied.
for a little more expensive and nicer treasure island is very nice.
what ever you do stay away from north strip.i stayed at circus circus and hated that end of the strip.
i wish i could tell you about some of the fancy hotels but i spend my money on fun not a $300 room.
luxor is well priced as well.

we stayed in the Excalibur very comfortable but a bit too far down the strip, very friendly staff and lovely room with nice bathroom, in fact the best one we have had. the pool was a bit grotty though. biggest plus was a coffee bar at the bottom of each lift.
we have also stayed in the flamingo, again really nice and a better pool but small bathrooms. nice pool area and outside bars.
our most fave is the mirage have stayed there four times now, really helpful staff, never had any problems with daily housemaids, rooms always cleaned by 12pm. pool area is fantastic, great shopping, centrally located on the strip and the dolphins are amazing

I've stayed at the Excalibur and it's nice. Prices are going to depend on what's going on though too - there are times to avoid Vegas especially when big conventions are in town. Hotels raise their room rates through the roof.
If the COMDEX convention is going on (I see they've cancelled it in recent years), avoid going then (late November).
I've also stayed at the Fiesta, but that isn't on the strip - it's in the area that used to be called North Las Vegas. But it was nice. Almost any major hotel on the strip is going to be nice though - price will depend on the level you want to stay at.

>>Reasonably priced<< That will depend at least as much on when you go as where you stay.
To keep cost down, avoid weekends, special events and large conventions.
These are "generally" the best value

I think the Tropicana was comfortable and reasonably priced.
Rooms could use a bit of remodeling, but it was clean, did not smell, and right on the strip. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Do not go to Travelodge next to Harley Davidson cafe. Room was ok but the worst was the AC did not work, in the summer we were dying!
Have fun and good luck.
