Try running the cartridge head cleaning routine to get any dried ink out of the cartridge 's jet opening. Run the nozzle-check test and you will see which color is not printing. When the test shows all printing you are ready for the big leagues of true color.
Sometimes even a new cartridge has a dried out opening clogging its output.

A lot of the ink cartridges are designed so that you CANT fill them without a lot of problems. You may have ran into a problem that might have cost you your whole printer.

Did you put in anything other then black ink in it - is it a multi-color printer ? If you only filled the black cartridge with black-clean or clear your nozzles an print a test page. If it's multi-color make sure it's on black and not color.

New cartridges, or even a new printer! Why don't you buy a new printer? they are nearly as cheap as buying new cartridges!
