I will write in point form for you, so you can put it in your own words or eliminate points easily.
1. depends on the country's status: if they are rich or have lots of land, then they have alot to protect, if they are small, like Monaco, then they don't have much prospect of invadors. How ever a country like the Vatican needs alot of protection due to its contents, the head church as well as historical documents and the body of a saint. If the country is on the brink of a civil war it's very important for them to have armed forces.
2. No, serving in the armed forces should be an act of patriotism to the country. Also alot of people would have to be chased (because they would be avoiding the conscription). A degrading classification of those more fit or less fit would have to be in place for the army.
3. Those who wish to serve in the armed forces should have physical strength for the trying tasks, they should have emotional stability for the acts they would commit, and they should not be mutineers.
4. As long as they are qualified yes. Any one should be allowed to join the armed forces. ADD SOME OF YOUR OWN OPINION HERE!!!!
5. Serving in places with limited freedom would be a good demonstration of how lucky they are to live in such a free country. Also they will see other customs in forein countries they will not like that will show them how much they apreciate their own. They will see what people go through to keep their country free and realize how important it is to realise how important it is.

1. Having an army is one of the fundamental powers of the state. Without this a nation could not defend its borders, maintain control of its citizenry, or extend its political goals by force.
2. I do not think forced service is of the best interest to the nation accept in national emergencies. However I would not object to a mandatory 2 year service either.
3. Able body and a sound mind
4. Yes I agree with the current standards regarding women in the military.
5. With the service comes sacrifice that breeds appreciation of the nation. The military also has culture of patriotism.

#1Very. If for no other reason than to protect it's own borders.#2 If they are able. And forget the college exemptions that politicians get. #3 Just be able bodied. #4 Of course, they can vote can't they. #5 It could go either way. Some are completely turned off with their country.

your teacher gave you a homework assignment about veterans day?! thats like giving an assignment about christmas or hannukah or thanksgiving just b/c its the holiday thats coming up. i think thats evil, but im sorry, i will not answer your hw questions for you. i dont think people should try to get yahoo answers ppl to do their hw for them unless they need help having a problem EXPLAINED to them. not actually having the hw done for them. in this case, i think this assignment is ridiculous, and is of no value of doing (interesting questions, yes, but you shouldn't have to have a hw assignment on it!) so its ok to try to get someone else to do it lol. but im sorry, i dont want to do it, i have hw of my own. maybe you'll be able to fine someone who will do it for you. maybe a real war veteran! that would be cool lol.
so im sorry this answer isn't that serious, but thank you for the 2 points!
