"I just got a dell laptop I have services through embark telephone company my computer does not work. when I try to go into internet it say it can't find the modem

You must either:
a) Contract with a dialup ISP; connect your laptop to a phone line; or
b) Contract with a DSL ISP (usually a telephone company); Connect your computer to the DSL modem that they provide; or
c) Contract with a cable or DSL ISP; buy or lease a wireless router, which connects to the Cable or DSL modem; connect your laptop wirelessly to the router;

you don't have a modem you cant just plug a raw cable into the wall.
Call Embark and ask if the support internet its a tel company telephone and internet are 2 different things
