Where can I find directions on how to build my own touchscreen? I would prefere If it could have some sort of processing power and/or a cpu unit built in for small applications.

All and any advice is welcome.

Wow... this is way beyond the scope of this type of website. You would need to go to college for engineering to even begin on this one. You would need an LCD screen that is touch screen capable first. Then add computer components. Look elsewhere would be my advice

It is possible for a skilled micro-electrician to build a very basic yet functional touchscreen monitor, however, it would require highly advanced programming skills to develop the software drivers necessary for it to work effectively with any mainstream operating system.

I say this only to be kind. In reality your objective is neither phesable nor cost efficient .... not to mention even remotely realistic.

I salute your wide eyed (however naive) initiative !
