I'm thinking Chicago and Detroit should play 82x a year instead of 8

Chicago hasn't won the season series from Detroit since the Mike Keenan days! All we need is 1 in the next 5 games.......Next Saturday looks good to me!

Copas...let me think here
0-1-0 against Nashville
3-0-0 against Detroit

Nope...I want all 82 games against Detroit and 0 against Nashville!

Wings Fan it was, but the way the Wings came out of the gate it looked like they would spoil the party

Copas
I would prefer to play a home and away against every team in the league not in my division (50 games) and then 8x each against my own division.

People didn;t complain about playing their own division 8x each UNTIL they lost games against the other conference. Personally, I like the division rivalries and I know others do too. But there are a lot of teams like San Jose, Dallas, and the Western Canadian teams where they WANT to have a home game against Montreal, and Toronto and other original 6 games every year. I say...give it to them.

I think that the Hall of Fame game should be the first game on schedule in October....and it should be the only one.

For example, next year...TB and Pittsburgh will play a Saturday/Sunday affair in Prague. On the Tuesday following, The Leafs should open up their home schedule with the HOF game, and then on the Thursday, the rest of the League starts. This way, everybody who should be involved can be there. I personally think both Wayne Gretzky and Kevin Lowe should have been there (as ex-teammates, and as ex-Rangers)

LOL LITY.. Thanks goes to the Blackhawks for keeping Detroit from running away with the division if only temporarily..

Seriously-- YES-- no question--IMO..
drop the divisional matchups to 6..
keep inter conference play at 4..
play each team from the opposite conference once and alternate locations every year..
This gets you to 79--- just throw in 3 more games (determining opponents would be the problem here) and that gets you to 82.. I would go with 3 extra games of east vs west teams so it doesnt have home advantage coming into play if playoffs had to be determined due to a tie..

Just do something where every team plays every team..

LMAO-- I see the reasoning.. but 82 times!! Detroit!!
I guess when you got their number , ride the hell out of that horse..LOL..
Now put the top back on the bottle and save some for next Saturday.. LMAO...

Good point with the Western Canadian comment..

I think I now like your idea better..thanks..

The NHL changed it this season to play more out of conference games. Divisional games has gone back to 6 games, and there is one game scheduled against every team in the other conference.... some two games. For example, the Sabres play two games against the Coyotes this season. Eight games against each team in the division is too many. I like the change and being able to see more of the other conference.

All 82 Games well that not going to happen, but is always great when 2 of the original 6 play each other,And I do agree with you about the schedule change but I cant figure out why the western conference??? That is just dumb! I think they belong in the Eastern Coference if the wings were in the East it would make a DAMN GOOD cup final and then the NHL might get some ratings....

I second your vote for an 82 game schedule against one team, I pick the Penguins as the Flyers opponent this season, especially given the sweep last season. We should see a Philly Chicago final that way! I have an extra room here along with access to tickets for the finals in Philly. You take care of the same in Chicago and we can have a two week party!

I also totally agree with your sentiment about playing home and home with everyone outside of your division and stacking the division schedule for the remainder.

Puck: That's the problem, LITY's solution is too simple. A balanced schedule including home and away games and everyone plays everyone. The statement "It doesn't take a rocket scientist" certainly applies here. I vote for LITY for a promotion.

As long as the Leafs play the Habs 82x too LOL.

Another beauty goal by the kid and the game winner. That was a rocket!

8x each year for division still is less than 14x in the old 6 team league.

I like the idea of every team twice and the division 8x. It's also very neat. No need for some crazy formula.

Alright, get your laughs in now. It's not gonna be this way all season, LITY. When playoff times comes, the Blackhawks are gonna be a second round team at best while Detroit skates with the Cup.

LITY, I am Wings fan, but I have enjoyed this season series so far. Maybe we can return to that great rivalry of the early to mid 90's.

I thought this question was going to debate the snafu that resulted from the league scheduling games (particularly Phoenix's) as this year's HOF class will be inducted.

Nonetheless, I like your idea. I'd take 82 NY/NY tilts even though the Rangers haven't been on the right side of the battles yet, this year.

We'll just have to take the next five games...

The Hawks played good, they put on a clinic today. It wasn't too bad to see the Hawks win tonight, it was they're first home televised game tonight wasn't it?

That fella radek down there, isn't me, it looks like he says he's me, but he's not.
