NO! 911 is for life & death emergencies only! Loosing your wallet doesn't count as an emergecy. you did good cacelling your credit card mmediately. As for the Social Security Card, I'd call the Social Security administrsation. they can assist you with that.

Short Answer - No

Long Answer - You call 911 only when there is an actual emergency.
The way that an emergency is prioritized is like this.
Priority 1-- There is an immediate threat to persons or property, a weapon is involved, a child under the age of 12 is involved, previous threats or violence towards police officers.

Priority 2-- There is no immediate threat to persons or property.

Priority 3-- There is no immediate threat to persons or property and the situation is time delayed.

This situation would fall into a Priority 3. While most operators are going to take both Emergency and Non-Emergency calls and would be able to give the same information regardless of which you call, if there are calls holding in queue for emergency, you will be given either a short answer and hung up on or just immediately told to call back at a later time.

In answer to what you should do in your situation is this. First call the hospital which you were taken to. They probably have it. The paramedics are going to turn over all of your personal property to them. (Hell, after they drop you off, they don't want it. hehe) Barring the hospital having it, call the ambulance service that took you in. It could be sitting still on the dashboard or out of sight somewhere. Most ambulance services are going to also have a lost and found box where they put all the random junk they found. Barring this, leave a message for the officer who responded. Could be on his dash also.
If all of this fails, go stand in MVD's line and get a new one.

No not 911. The first thing to do is cancel the cc, just like you did. Then you can try to call the police dept that came to the scene of the accident and ask them how to retrieve items that you believe may still be in their possession.

Call the police but not the emergency line and be prepared to provide date and time of accident and any other particulars that might assist.

Then take a deep breath and thank your lucky stars you're still alive enough to care!

Check with the department who worked your crash first and make sure the officer did not put it into property. I have worked crashes where I was unable to give someone their stuff back before the left in an ambulance and we turn it into property and give the person 90 days to come and get it. Also check with the hospital to make sure it wasn't turned in with your belongings. If not file a lost property report in case someone tries to use you cards.

Go to the police department in the area the accident occurred and file a report if you haven't already and never carry your ss on you.

Call the non-emergency phone number, or visit the police station. Don't call 911.

No - ask the hospital that you were taken to (if any) or call the local police number (they have numbers other than the central emergency one) to see where it might be
