I looked for a similar question but couldn't find anything.

I was wondering if there is any commentary on the Schrodinger theoretical construct that deals with whether the determinacy is affected by one person opening the box as opposed to another person? Would our personal reality have any theoretical influence on the cat's state of being?.

I realize that this is all just food for thought, but I found it an interesting theory.

i like prof's sheed answer; i suspect its been advised-of
many times since plato(fortunately,a real man).
But i also think he is trying to say that the answer to your
question is no.Its not affected by another person opening
it.
If my reading of your 2nd question is correct,i would say it is;
and i could back-up my argument with evidence from my
(and our) early universitry undergraduate course- american
psychology taught in britain;i remember vividly the textbook
experiment on whether one child(any child) could recognise
a cat with a dog's mask on.
My answer was obvious; but was not the text book answer.
i think we can still say of most scientists; that with the
complete change -of-environment that they have inherited
(from their so-called betters)they still eat a meagre diet
of thought for food.

Strictly speaking according to Schrodinger, once the box is open the information is "out there" and affects everybody. But I see what you mean, if *I* don't know mabye that's all that matters for my own reality. It is interesting and I don't see how it could be disproved...

as a student I grappled this enigma of quantum physics.
this was a theoretical experiment to make a point about the absurdity of the copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics. ( collapsing wave functions and superpositions etc).

I took the view that consciousness does indeed create the manifest world, but as to where this consciousness lies (or is limited to), remains the important question.

and as for the cat..
I will quote the words of Ayn Rand, "Existence is primary. You cannot be conscious without something to be conscious of"

any macro object you look at is more than 99.9% empty space.
and thats enough to be negligible
yet it isn't

In his theory, results may vary, but if the box is opened, there will be a result.

depends on the scope of the box itself, what if it was the "straight and narrow" pathway into the subconscious we do not "know" about.
