I noticed no one answered your question, and I thought it was pretty interesting. I think Cichilds are really neat fish. The only ones I have ever owned were Oscars. I was interested enough in your question to search for some answers. I know its kind of a "no-no" here to cut and paste from Wikipedia, but, this is what I found and thought I'd share with you:
