Yes as a matter of fact they have, greatly! To prove that they have enacted a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty, with no strings attached. A true testemant of how well made their cars and trucks are.

Chrysler got a big boost from Mitsubishi and also AMC when they bought them out. And a bigger step up from Daimler when they merged. Chrysler has made some not so great motors starting in the late 70 and up. But after Iaccoca went in and cleaned the company up so it had a chance to start making a profit, It began concentrating on quality. Iaccoca was also a man for quality. The big problem with the 2.7 is the fact that when they installed the catalytic converters they ran them right under both sides of the engine. This causes the motor to run hotter than most of their other cars and makes the oil hotter and causing it to sludge faster without proper oil changes. In my opinion after working exclusively on Chrysler products from 1981 to 2005, the best engines Chrysler has is the Cummings Diesel and the 3.3/3.8. We had less trouble out of these three. The 3.8 is a bigger bored 3.3. The 3.3/3.8 is the most trouble free motor I have ever had any experience with. These engines hit the market around 87-88 and have been almost trouble free from the very start. This engine and good designing is what has made the Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth mini vans one of the top selling vehicles in toad's market.

I have owned three 2001 or newer Chrysler products an 05 being the newest.I have stopped buying them because of several things.First I find their fit and finish to be below other manufactures interior material quality is not so great. The chrome they apply over their plastic parts peels and blisters easily.Having driven their cars exclusively for years I can tell you they suffer from above average roadnoise and they tend to have a harsher ride than comparible auto's.The big reason why I am no longer buying Chrysler products is their dealer network and it is the number one reason others I know are disatisfied with owning a Chrysler product.Poorly trained techs,Salesmen who operate to far in the gray area, and overpriced parts and service are all part of the Chrysler experience.

It is NOT giving away a lifetime warranty, they HAVE to have good quality or this will eat them alive! I can only imagine the meetings with engineering, and manufacturing to do this!!
Warranties to a manufacturer are NOT free. It is called putting your money where your mouth is. Saying they have improved is not proving it with such a warranty.
Own a Durango, 9 years old, and other than the ball joints,,known problem, which took me one hour to change myself, have no problems.
Good Luck

Well, they really couldn't get any worse. For God's sakes, how long do we have to listen to these companies say, "we are catching up to the Japanese." I've heard it for 20 years and they still haven't figured it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOT TO SOUND DISRESPECTFUL BUT NO BECAUSE CHRYSLER IS HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS AND THEIR VEHICLES ARE NOT THE BEST IN RELIABILITY.

THAT IS WHY THEY ARE GIVING THE LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE DRIVE-TRAIN.

DO SOME RESEARCH ON LINE AND SEE WHAT IS GOING ON BEFORE YOU MAKE A BIG MISTAKE.
