Athena, I'm afraid yours is not a question, but a statement.
By the way, please think - the problem with the name is definitely not a problem for Greece.
The problematic name is FYROM, as it is accepted by the UN.
This dispute is most detrimental to the Republic of Macedonia, because it dooms it, a small country, to isolation. The only result is that it will still continue to gravitate around Serbia.
Anyway, you most probably have no problem with this.
The EU and NATO do not seem to be so important.

Just because an ignoramus mediator is in charge of negotiations it doesn't mean that whatever he proposes will be acceptable. Especially when those suggestions do not meet the general consensus. Macedonia was always there long before FYROM even existed. Indisputable fact of that is the Greek lettering on all archaeological findings. None with the Cyrillic one used centuries later , or any other form of alphabet .
So your suggestions of renaming our lands is absurd and you may reserve it for your own country.
If you want to be a good neighbor you should be willing to be respectfull of your neighbor's ground as you expect them to do for your land.
Trespassing is by no means allowed. Common law.

The article says completely different things.
Don't present it in a fake way.
It is clearly written :
" …envisages a compound name BOTH for the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the Greek region, which has the same name. The information mentions that Nimitz wants the Greek Macedonia to be DEFINED. "
Completely different from what you say!!
As for "North Greece" it is amazing how such fake information circulates so easily from the Slav-Macedonians!!!
The term "North Greece" or "Northern Greece" IS STILL IN USE and it is used to define the geographic regions of Epirus + Macedonia(the authentic one) + Thrace!!!
Authentic Macedonia of Greece was never "renamed” and was always called Macedonia by the Greeks!!
Already from 1913 the liberated area was officially called "επαρχία Μακεδονίας" which means "Province of Macedonia" and remained as such till present.
The only difference is that the province of Macedonia was divided in 3 peripheries when entered the European Union.
The 3 peripheries of west, central and eastern Macedonia and they are called like that since 1913 not 1988.)
Next time try not to post fake information and especially the fake argument about "North Greece".
(check this map from national geographic from 1958 were the term Macedonia is clearly visible. No official name “north Greece” appears!
http://www.maps.com/map.aspx?pid=15988
Check also the map about the races of Europe
http://www.maps.com/map.aspx?nav=MS&cid=22,1529,1538&pid=15959 )
Try to find any real arguments
Read also what Denko Maleski, fmr.
Slav-macedonian Minister (for foreign affairs of FYROM), has written for the "Utrinski Vesnik" newspaper and you will understand how fake arguments appears from Slav-Macedonia:
“"The lack of capability by "macedonists" in condition of democracy, also contributes to the vision of their opponents. THE CREATION OF THE MACEDONIAN NATION, for almost a half of century, WAS DONE IN A CONDITION OF SINGLE-PARTY DICTATORSHIP. In those times, there was no difference between science and ideology, so, THE MACEDONIAN HISTORIOGRAPHY, UNOPPOSED BY ANYBODY, COMFORTABLY PERFORMED A SELECTION OF THE HISTORIC MATERIAL FROM WHICH THE MACEDONIAN IDENTITY WAS CREATED. There is nothing atypical here for the process of the creation of any modern nation, EXCEPT WHEN FALSIFICITATION FROM THE TYPE OF SUBSTITUTION OF THE WORD "BULGARIAN" WITH THE WORD "MACEDONIAN" WERE MADE. IN CASES WHERE THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE, THE PERSONS FROM HISTORY WERE PROCLAIMED FOR BULGARIAN AGENTS WHICH CROSSED INTO SOME IMAGINARY PURE MACEDONIAN SPACE".

The northern region of Greece has to remain Macedonia, since that is the name of the land for thousands of years.
On the contrary, as it has been proven, except for a narrow strip in the south of the country, the FYROM's territory (Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia - UN provisional reference, UN Resolutions #817 of April 7 and #845 of June 18 of 1993) has never been part of ancient Macedonia.
Further this state never existed before 1944 when Tito created it as one of the constituent republics of communist Yugoslavia. To claim the name, ethnicity and culture of "Macedonia" by the FYROM which occupies less than 10% of the ancient Macedonian area is ludicrous and irritating to those that live in the other 90% of that area.
Furthermore, since this 10% is only 1/5 of its own land, calling the whole country "Macedonia" is ludicrous and irritating to many inhabitants of the other 4/5 of the FYROM which have no connection whatsoever to ancient Macedonia.
It is therefore most logical for the FYROM to change its name to what that area was called prior to 1944 ("Vardarska") such as “Vardarska Republica” or “Republic of Vardar” in English, or to “Republic of Central Balkans” since this very new state is an actual patchwork of different Balkan cultures.
More moderate options is a name that signifies the area that this state corresponds to: the north part of the Geographical Macedonia and not the actual, historical Macedonia; hence “North Macedonia” or “Upper Macedonia” or a name significant of the origin of the majority of the people in FYROM, hence "Slavomakedonija".
Or perhaps, for those who like to use the UN provisional reference, it can be altered as:
"FORMER YUGOSLAV REPLICA OF MACEDONIA", and for short, FYROM.

The small state at the north of Macedonia is FYROM.
Cheers!

Listen dear, in your very amusing and simple question I have to give you a simple answer:The name is ours, belongs to our land and our grandfathers. It is not for sale and is not for anyone else to decide other than Greeks.
So you can tell Mr Nimitz to shove his proposal along with the other proposals that were given in the past.
Bottom line: NOBODY but the Greeks is in the position to decide of our name and/or our fate.
Molon labe!

If you read the article properly, you would see that he proposed to DEFINE the Greek area ALSO. Not that it will be called something else and Fyrom will be called Macedonia!
