OK, here are some ideas: a gift card from REI. If he likes outdoors, he would love to buy stuff there, their website is very user-friendly and I don't think they add a bunch of fees onto the cost of the gift card.
He likes food: go to QVC and order him some Corky's ribs. You can get four one-pound slabs for under $50. They're already cooked, they come to him packed in dry ice, and all he has to do is heat them up. Corky's ribs are famous in Memphis, and some people say they are the best ribs in the world.
Or go to QVC and order him a Junior's cheesecake. They have a ton of different flavors, and they are world-famous for their cheesecake (they're from New York).
For the sports car: find a place that sells cool leather driving gloves (use Google). Usually driving gloves have holes over the knuckles. They make a sports-car driver look very cool.
For music: if he has an iPod, buy him a certain number of downloads or, if not, get him a $50 gift certificate from his favorite music store.
Once you have the present, make him a hand-made card and tell him the things that you like best about him and why you're happy he's in your life. That will be the best present he gets.
