it is a file that tells your computer what kind of printer you are using and how to communicate with the printer. You need to go to the printers manufacturers website. Within the website there should be a link to support or downloads. Follow the link to your printer. There should be instructions on how to install the driver. Another beginning point would be to google "your printer driver download" for example, "hp 4200 driver download".

The same print driver must be on both pc's. Use the one that is connected to the printer and works with it, and go to network setup. This will allow you to send the proper files to the laptop, and let you use the printer as a networked printer.
You just need to have the pc that is connected to the printer turned on, or it wont work.

The driver for the printer tells the computer how to talk to the printer. You don't really expect that a computer would automatically know how to talk to every printer under the sun, do you? That why you need drivers.

You download drivers from the printer maker's website. Just go to their website, and there should be a link to download drivers. Enter your printer model number, and you should be directed to a download link and instructions on what to do with them.

You have to install the soft ware that came with the printer onto your computer. The soft ware will include all drivers and operating information for your computer and printer to communicate. The soft ware is the same as you have installed on the other computer. If you have already installed the wire less router and can connect then all you should need is to install the printer soft ware then go to control panel and set the printer as the default printer.
Hope this helps
