The water travels down the pipe to the first floor, it sounds like the pvc pipe is hitting the wall studs. The noise is not from the fill valve or the incoming water pipe.

There are two systems on drain lines - Material matter (water, sewage) transfer, and an air system. When you flush a toilet, drain your bathtub, release water from the sink, the out going matter creates a vacuum pulling air from the backside of the flowing matter. That is way some sinks gurgle when water is released from the sink. When you flush your toilet the same thing can happen. Therefore, the vacuum in the line creates a vibration from the pipe. Otherwise there is no other reason for there to be any noise if things was flowing properly. Good luck.

The drain pipe is loose in the wall. As long as the toilet is flushing properly and you don't have any water running out of your wall, there really isn't any problem other than the noise.

The only way to check it out properly would be to take the drywall off the wall in the room under the toilet and take a look at the installation. That's a big mess to cure a little noise.

That's usually the first sign we have roots in our sewer lines again. We call a plumber with a big mean looking auger and a $100 later, the problem is solved. If you wait it will likely backup in the basement. Very nasty. We learned the hard way. It's worth the $100, trust me.

you have an air pressure problem in the pipes because my pipes did the same thing.a pipe broke and we had to shut off the water to fix it,and then turn the water on ,more than it was the first time and it stopped.but yeah the pipes might be old and have air preusser problems.

Call a plumber. I don't think there is anything else that you can do, unless you work on pipes.
