A consitutional Republic based on the rule of law is the best way to go.
Democracy without rules is like a "mob rules" mentality.
Also Democracy without rules is like two wolves and a lamb deciding on what to eat for dinner.
In a democracy the rule of the majority wins and so the poor lamb would have no chance.

We in the United States are modeled on a Constitutional republic based on rule of law.

The Key word being "Constitutional" meaning a Republic based on a Constitution made up of "guaranteed" and inalienable rights for all its citizens in a bill of rights. Inalienable meaning rights not being able to be taken away by anyone or any govt ruler.

Also all the laws of the Constitutional republic are based on those inalienable rights of the Bill of Rights/

So Democracy is not always the best way to govern but trather a constiutional republic is which will guarantee everyone's rights under the "Bill Of Rights."

But a totalitarian form of govt which controls the population does not guarantee people their rights to live protected from the abuses of the people in control.
Yes there are crimes in those countries just not that we here about since the news media control the flow of information.

Always, the democracy, is the best of all forms of governance and no hope is lost, We have only the greatest and everlasting deadly commitment of keeping the democratic institutions and its values far supreme than our lives, which would only be the salvation for the humanity forever!

The China's growth of 10% annually is due to the whole economy is open for unlimited foreign direct investment when the social base is rigid and regulated by a one party rule for the last six decades and has zero external and internal debt and hence for the sight it seems to be flying high, which in turn is fast becoming a nation like USA and may take its position exactly same as what it is today, with all its economic perils too, unchanged!

Out of all the alternatives...I think Democracy is the best way.

Dictatorship....look at the Hitler years. Plus Africa today.

Communism....the wall came down & Russian communism did not help the people, it failed.

Royalty....Kings & Queens...had up for treason if you disagreed.

I think democracy is on shaky ground & I wonder if one day we will have a World Government, due to the collapse of the Western democratic economy, lack of oil & the immorality of the so-called, civilised nations.

China is not a good example, remember Teinamen[sp] square? They also have millions of problems, and so much fear.

Who knows the future? None of us.

Yes, to me, democracy is still the way to govern. I do not like the idea that one leader can force the country to do as he says and it does not matter what the rest of the country wants. We have freedom because of generations of men have fought for our right to vote for whomever we want and to live however we want.

Not sure that I agree with you. You would not be allowed to post this question there. The one thing China lacks is freedom of speech, which I find most important.

yes. it has been tried and tested. so has totalitarian governments, and they have failed like crazy.
china is growing because it keeps getting more and more democratic.
more government control just slows down the free market. and they do have crime problems. i dont know where you got that info.

Democracy hasn't really been tried yet!
Totalitarian is certainly more efficient in getting results.
But how do you measure whether people are happy?
