If you are going back to the WWF days, it has to be Hogan, since his persona brought wrestling into the middle of pop culture. For WWE, Stone Cold by far....his popularity at the box office and in merchandise sales gave the company the "attitude." For the storied history of the WWWF, Bruno Sammartino carried the championship with a style & class comparable with Lou Thesz.
