I haven't seen a fat avatar on yahoo answers yet. Or an old one for that matter.
What is yahoo implying?
That we are all young and skinny?
Why is yahoo answers contributing to the raising health problems caused by bad self-image and the mass media?
Should we complain to the execs about having skinny avatars?

I'm super slip and far from fat or obese. I just wonder why yahoo descriminates against fat people.

yeah! good question
but when you make it there is a "plus size" body (it doesn't even look plus size but whatever).. and then you see the options for their clothing and the clothes are all ugly.. and there are only like 10 pieces of clothing to choose from
i mean i'm not slim but i'm not obese either. but i have some meat on my bones .. totally unfair i agree with you :)

The faces are all thin. My avatar is wearing an outfit from the "plus-size" section. Admittedly, Yahoo's "plus sizes" look like the models in most large-lady catalogues - which is to say a whole lot thinner than anyone who will actually wear the clothes.

You might also note that, though not particularly wrinkled, Ol' Granny Zee does have glasses and grey hair. =8)

We can complain, but I would guess that even if Yahoo offered fat and old options, very few people would choose them. The fun thing about avatars is the opportunity to look like we do in our fantasies.

No discrimination. It's ideal, the ideal form and human body. No one wants to see a fat person on the icon, these are objective avatars, not that personal, mine as well have your weight under your name, besides don't we see enough in public, in schools and in the BK line? I suppose the powers that be think they have done their part for diversity by providing various skin tones, hair colors (including grey) and styles, and so-called plus-size bodies (with limited potential wardrobe). While my avatar reflects my appearance somewhat, it isn't entirely accurate. Perhaps Y!A thinks that we all prefer to present ourselves as young and thin.

*Hey, I've been to Walmart, and what Y!A passes as plus-size doesn't hold a candle to what I saw there. I'm not skinny, but . . . .c'mon!

if yahoo had a plus size avatar to choose from, i don't think many of us would choose it.
i look like my avatar except my eyes are not as almond but the other choices of eyes are too round. Who cares.
