Actually, 25% of the homeless are veterans. That's a totally different thing, although it's still unacceptable.

Look at your source of information, CNN. they have yet to tell the whole truth on anything about the veterans. That's what sickening! They even twisted and spun this little dity to get you excited. And, it works for some of you here. Not me.
There is no reason for the homeless in this great society. Veteran on not. These people CHOOSE to live the way they want, as YOU do! Another falicy is How did CNN get their information? The last census proved it impossible to get anywhere near a half way decent account of how many homeless there were excluding the veterans.
During my interviews with the homeless I still have yet to find a "family" that claims to be homeless. there are too many programs out there now sponsored by Uncle Sugar, churches, local government and volunteer groups.
Here in SWFlorida we are now seeing the annual influx of the "homeless". They are fleeing the coming winter up north and are known down here as " VISITING Homeless". The shelters will be full within the next two weeks as the ambient temperature continues to drop. The old familiar haunts, the green belts around the shopping areas are now full. Sometimes there are problems, most of the time there isn't. We thank out LEOs and their diligence for keeping a handle on what is happening in these "Campgrounds in the Woods".
As for CNN, take what they report as fact, with a long drink of water. It usually is not factual and probably is spun to their own ends.

That is a misreporting of a LIE. The story you heard said 25% of the homeless are veterans. That is not even close to saying 25% of veterans or homeless. Given that the SAME people making that claim state it is not possible to accurately count the homeless, they couldn't possibly know this even if it were true. Given the number of homeless that FALSELY claim to be veterans, even if you could ask every homeless person, you would have to confirm their status with the VA to be sure. The VA can't legally release the required information without WRITTEN authorization from the veterans.
In short, your question is a load of *****.

Uh, you got the statistic wrong. According to a recent well published study, 25% of homeless were veterans. That's entirely differenct from 25% of veterans being homeless. I also am skeptical of the figure. How do they even go about performing a census on homeless people, and how many of them answer truthfully? How many of them know what a veteran is? Also, are we supposed to protect all veterans from the consequences of their own bad decisions forever?

somewhat some veteran's decrease back from conflict with PTSD (postraumatic rigidity disease, that's barely in basic terms beginning as much as be known). because of the fact there become no help for them, some grew to become to drugs &/or alcohol to uncomplicated the soreness. Many nevertheless go through intense melancholy. once you're out of the flow for a jointly as & then traumatized & depressed this is annoying to get decrease back into the swing of issues. Many veterans weren't waiting to maintain their marriages & relationships or carry down jobs. Many ended up on the streets. Vietnam vets have been punished for dropping an unpopular conflict. i'm going to easily guess if there'd been a important victory to rejoice the vets could have been taken care of like kings, instead they have been taken care of like traitors. What a slap interior the face for them, after witnessing & suffering unquestionably awful situations. The powers that be must be making particular that each & each vet gets precise notch scientific, dental & psychological care. additionally training, activity seek, housing help, and something which could make there re-get admission to into society extra ordinary, beginning with an outstanding income. I have not got any theory why your united states & your protection stress corporation treats your vets so poorly. they could desire to feel embarrassment approximately themselves. human beings voters must feel embarrassment approximately them too. the actual question is, why isn't anyone preserving their feet to the fire?

It's a crime and something that should anger both democrats and republicans. If we can find 3/4 of a trillion dollars for the war in Iraq then we can help our vets get a roof over their heads. If some of them are suffering from emotional problems that prevent them from holding down a job then we need to address that too. It's the least we can do, regardless of our positions on the war.

This is true and it is a disgrace! These soldiers gave their all for the country and their country screws them blind while letting illegal immigrants run free and live on taxpayer's dollars in sanctuary cities. It's time to make the Legislators live the way they make the soldiers live -- homeless.

It's a shame how our government ignores its troops with insufficient gear and equipment; low pay; reducing benefits; and abandoning them once they return from military combat.
Meanwhile, the hotsy-totsy brigadier generals and other military brass get anything and everything they want; our Commander-In-Chief fails to lead our troops to victory; and members of our Congress sit back and collect lavish salaries, perks and lifetime benefits while the 'grunts' in the trenches put their lives in harm's way so that a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists and power brokers can become wealthier and more powerful.
It's time that those soldiers who put their lives on the line be compensated as richly as military brass and members of Congress, including benefits and medical attention. Or, conversely, military brass and our so-called 'public servants' have their pay and benefits reduced to that of the valiant, courageous soldiers fighting in the field.
This Veteran's Day we need to remember our troops and make a pact to begin caring for them so that none of them come home with severe mental or physical disorders; so that none of them end up homeless; and so that none of them commit suicide (an increasingly serious situation among returning soldiers) as a means of forgetting their war time experiences. May God bless our troops.
May God DAMN Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and all their war-mongering friends, along with:
535 members of the most arrogant, contemptible, wicked, cowardly, corrupt Republican-led Congress in U.S. history that stood by and watched Bush run rip shod over our Constitution
-AND-
535 members of the most arrogant, contemptible, wicked, cowardly, corrupt Democratic-led Congress in U.S. history that promised to end this insane, immoral 'war' if elected, and - to date - has done absolutely nothing toward keeping that promise.
Again, MAY GOD DAMN THEM ALL!!! -RKO- 11/11/07
