Were you spanked as a kid? Do you feel it was abusive or deserved? Would/do you spank your kids?

I was spanked a couple times and probably deserved each one I got....... there's a difference between "discipline" and "abuse"........ I think the kids now a days are much to sassy and need a good swat on the butt.......
I was one place where this three year old said "shut up" to his mom and his mom didn't do anything...... if that was my kid, I would take him over my knee and spank him right then and there.....

How about you, Christopher B? Were you spanked as a kid? Up to what age? I guess most of us likely deserved more spankings than we got. And, sadly, some kids did get abused.

Yes I was spanked and I can not think of a single time I did not deserve it.

There is a huge difference between discipline and abuse.

I have swatted my children on occasion, but only when nothing else was getting their attention. It is NEVER a first option and NEVER something I look forward to.

i was not spanked, but i was whooped on regularly. my mother used to take out her frustrations on me.
with a 2 to say 5 year old a swift swat on the but with lots of noise to break their concentration is an effective meathod, depending on the child.
you can hit me all you want and i don't care, my brother thought that was the greatest indignity possible so hitting him was effective and hitting me wasnt'.
if you hit a kid more than twice, you are letting the kid get to you and i believe that can be abusive,
will i hit my kids? depends on how effective i think it will be.
violence is all some kids understand.
