Chávez is planning something strange to Brazil. We found one of the largest oil reserves in the planet, we didn't accepted him on Mercosur and now he is investing hardly on weapons, forcing us to enter in a little cold war against Venezuela.

This is such a complex subject!

I don't think Brasil should go into war! I don't believe it's going to get to this point ! There are several ways to stop Chavez! And the US are probably just waiting a little while to stop selling them their weapons! (.... like the whole world don't know where Chavez is getting it from!)

Chavez is clearly moving towards dictatorship! which means he intend to still be Venezuela's "leader" by the time Brasil's oil will actually be extract- something like 7 to 10 years! But the thing is Chavez's plans won't succed ! they don't have the resources to keep on going for too long!

Venezuela wasn't accept on Mercosul cause they didn't want to follow all the rules! I'm not sure, but I don't think Colombia is part of Mercosul either. And since it didn't work out the way it was planned, the union of all Americas (don't know the name) will probably get stronger now that Brasil's oil was discovered!

Brasil is in a great situation now! Not only this huge oil reserve was discovered, but it also domain the technology for metanol! If only the government could work in favor of the nation insteady of their own pockets ......

With Chavez giving away oil to other Southern and Central American countries...this may force those countries to not get involved in Brazil's side out of fear of losing the oil or increased oil prices.

Also, I expect if Brazil did some pre-emptive thing, Bush would say "shame on you!" .

I would also expect Cuba to get involved eventually aiding in training and such.

If there is plenty of oil involved, and if this really did happen, trust America would be involved to help protect the oil for America. oops I mean for Brazil.

this is not the Falklands war, part 2. Oil is our lifeblood, and we have to keep that maniac Chavez from getting his grubby mitts on Brazil's HUGE new oil discovery.

The US should never support the invasion of another country by another country.
