how do you remove lead based paint from a home safely.?

do you have to remove the entire wall and put up a new wall, or is there a chemical that can remove the paint safely?

Wear a respirator, coveralls, then cover the floor with throw away plastic sheet. Then scrape or use paint remover it off up to 3 feet only. Do not sand it. Then wash the walls and floors very well and it is ready for primer. I cost a lot to pay professionals, not to mention all the permits and inspections. It ends up at the trash anyway.

do what i do if you feel it is too dangerous, then hire some kids to do it , they are young and strong, good lungs, they could scrap it fine, just make sure you or your kids are not in the house, if they are nieghborhood kids then give them dusk masks and coveralls, so the harmful side afects do nto show immediately, thats a pain to try an explain to their parents.

I was a painting contractor for 15 years, please do not attempt to do this yourself, I would not feel qualified, find someone who specializes in this. Call a paint store that caters to professionals and have them recommend someone.
