Like others i always thought it was a bit creepy but then i found out that a couple of people at my work had met and dated people through the internet. One of the girls now lives with the man she met and they have been together for about 2 years.
I think you would have to be very careful when doing this. If anyone did decide to do this and you go to meet a person get as much details as possible about the person before you meet them. Tell a friend or family member who you are going to meet, where you are going to meet them and the time you are going. Make sure that you can phone the person you have left details with to let them know that you met the person. Then call the person when you get home or at the latest the very next morning. It may sound a bit extreme but you have to remember there are people that use the internet to pray on females.

I met my fiance online about 5 years ago when he was in the Navy. I'll be the first person to say that the Internet isn't the place to find love, and neither of us were looking for it. It just happened, and it's been amazing. We'll be getting married next year.
I know quite a few other couples who have met online and are now happily married. But they don't all end up that way.

I know 2 couples that met on line. One got married 6 months after meeting and have been married for 5 years and are happy. The other one didn't work out so well (nothing violent, they just didn't have chemistry in person). It's all a crap shoot. You can say the same for people you meet on the street too. You will hit it off with some and not others. It's just life.

Our son met his wife on the Internet. They were using a music exchange (now ruled illegal). She downloaded some of his, and left him a message. They started emailing, then chatting, then phone calls. Finally met after 1.5 yrs. Dated 3 yrs. Now married 5 yr and have 2 kids. His 2 best friends also met their mates much the same way, one on a Green Bay Packer site and the other on a car site. None of the 3 were on dating services.

Um, me and my fiance have been together for 3 years and we met on the Internet. Nothing creepy about it. We have more in common than I've ever had with anyone I've been with and we are best friends. He lived 5 minutes away from me. He says he would have never had the nerve to talk to me if he'd seen me out and about, because he would have thought he'd never of had a chance.

My husband and me.
We were statistically matched.
We would not have looked a second time at each other had we met any other way.
It's a good match. Not perfect, but a good match.
I'm happy, he's happy, we have enough in common.
I would definitely NOT use one of the fee type services though--try www.computer-dating.com. That's what we used. Free and terrific.

I know the nicest couple that met on the Internet... it was a dating site. Match.com or something. They have been married for a few years now. I think it can work, but you must be very careful!
