I have two dogs and everyday I fight the fur-battle. I do what I can to manage the shedding but I have been known to spend inordinate amounts of time attempting to eradicate every pet hair I can find.

My husband says that pet hair is to be expected since we have pets.

I have been to people's homes where hair is insane and everywhere and also where you wouldn't know a dog/cat lived there. So what is your strategy?

I love my dogs. I knew full well what kind of mess they would make and I don't regret it, I am just a bit of an over the top compulsive especially in my kitchen and bathrooms.

That being said, we adopted them from the shelter and they were ity bity puppies so we had no idea what kind of coat they would have when they got big. We took a gamble that we would get lucky....we got moderately lucky. They shed alot but not as bad as some. I was just wondering what other people do in terms of their pets hair.

I have a cat and you won't find a single hair in my house - she lives outside. I was always taught - people live in houses, animals live outside. My cat has her own little house outside. We have a mutual understanding as she doesn't like me to go in her house either!

IDon't know what breeds you have, but is it is breed that would look nice if it was clipped? If so, I would do it. Also, do you brush them frequently? That helps. I have a very clean house, but when you decide to get a pet, you have to expect shedding in most breeds. Just curious, but are you just as concerned about human hair on your bathroom floor or tub? Humans loose their hair, too. I would try to relax and just keep your home up the best you can. I would never be embarresed if someone came to my home unanounced. I have pets, so there will be hair. People are not comming to your home to judge you, they are comming to visit you. If someone elses home is full of hair, oh well, they choose to live that way. If someone elses house is spotless, they also choose to live that way. Try to find a happy medium for your lifestyle and be able to live with it. Your only judge is God and yourself, not everyone else. Just a joke, but if you have a sheepdog, I think you might have chosen the wrong breed for you. Take Care.

You should have thought about this before adopting the dogs.

I think it's just better to get over it. Think of how much time you are essentially wasting trying to get rid of the hair.. it will just be replaced in a short amount of time anyways.

Don't get rid of your fur babies. Next time, get pets that only shed minimally (there is no such thing as a dog that doesn't shed completely. regardless of what you might have read, all animals shed).
