The topic for my essay is: Discuss the role of a moral code in the lives of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

First of all, I don't really understand what "the role of a moral code" means.
Second, I could really use some help with where to start, ideas for what I should include would be very helpful.

Thanks!

"the role of a moral code" means the things that they would or would not do because of their system of beliefs about what is right or wrong. Look at what those 2 characters did or did not do because of their beliefs then write about those actions that were most important to the outcome.

Sounds like an interesting question. A moral code is the internal rules that guide a person's actions. Both of the Macbeth characters voice their moral codes.
Lady Macbeth first urges Macbeth to kill Duncan; his moral code at first says that would seem disloyal. Then she goads him into committing the crime. He then goes much farther, killing the two grooms as they sleep outside King Duncan's door. This action shocks her, so it seems that her moral code keeps her from killing people just to keep from being discovered.
Once Macbeth kills, he seems to have no more moral code. He does everything for expedience. Good luck!

Moral code in MacBeth= well, MacBeth was a bloody warrior, and prasied well for it by the king. So, you could argue that he was only following that same code (killer essay, if you ask me). But, as far the as "role of the moral code" remember that Duncan loved MacBeth and MacBeth kills him-- and he is a guest in his home-- so there are two strikes against the "moral code"-- love the king and honor guests. Then, MacBeth has others killed -- again going against the whole idea of not killing ect.
