7r-5s=1
5r+7s=43
Multiply 1st Eq by 7 and 2nd Eq by 5 getting:
49r -35s = 7
25r+35s = 215
Add the above two equations getting:
74r = 222
r = 3
so s = 4

5r+7s=43.
7r-5s=1
Add both equations.
12r+2s=44.
Divide each side of the second equation by 2.
6r+s=22.

5r+7s=43
6r+s=22, Multiply the second equation by 7.
42r+7s=154.
Subtact the first equation and the third equation.
-37r=-111.
Divide each side by -37.
r=3.
You can find that s=4 afterwards.

7r-5s=1......(1)
5r+7s=43......(2)
7*(1) + 5*(2): 74r = 222
r = 3
s = 4
