No mean comment ok? I need help with an outline and ideas for my paper. It has to be about how the GA drought relates to freedom order and equality. The exact article I am working from is http://www.ajc.com/search/content/metro/stories/2007/11/09/truce_1110.html

Its about how FL is backing out of a truce which would help GA not run out of water (yeah i know. how mean!). Ga wants to reduce the amount of flow of water from lake lanier to FL, so that the lake will not deplete and so that georgia will not have to ration out water to its residents.

10 points to best answer... come on people im desperate!!!!

The best way to handle this in a paper is not to take sides and agree with one side or the other, but to discuss both points of view fairly.

You have two states with a water shortage, and each wants to come out ahead. No one is wrong, no one is right, both are looking out for their own interest.

Show how the interest of each is legitimate, but also show how each is ignoring the legitimate interest of the other.

A great ending would be to suggest how you, if you were a mediator for this dispute, would help the parties come to a solution that would help both, not just "the winner".

I dont have an onutline for you, but I can give you my thoughts on the whole thing. Whom ever agreed that FL and AL would ALWAYS continue to get a certin amount of water per day released from the dam was an idiot. I can not believe this is the first time since the 50s when the damn was built that this problem has come up. Th amount of water released should be a percentage based on the amount of water on hand. Just think about how bad off we would be in GA if we never put a dam up and made lake lanier.

And this drought sucks but sucks even more when I go to the motocross track and the ponds are all dry. I have to ride in th dust all day. lol!

It's amazing that the US is SURROUNDED by water--and we NEVER YET thought to tap that resource to all the states...inculding those that are drought affected!!

This is something the "think tankers" never thought about: Climatic change affecting the US to some way, shape and/or form (to a great or lesser degree), and our current techonology available to abate the ill effects!!!

Politics, sad to say, is in the arena of fighting for water--yet another domino effect of the "drought".

ALL the affected states--AND the Federal Government (God help us) should really focus on a major drought abatement plan--and fast.

Using the oceans of the Alantic and Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico--why not develop a water pumping/conversion system--where water is pumped akin to a gas or oil pipeline to these major cities and surrounding areas?

Yes, I know the creation of such a water system gives rise to political corruption involving water...but what IS the lesser of the two evils here: thirst or corruption???
