Ok, first you have to find the value of x in the first equation in order to substitute in the second one:
x-y=-11
x=-11+y
Now that we have the value of x we can substitute:
5x-2y=-43
5(-11+y)-2y=-43
-55+5y-2y=-43
3y=-43+55
3y=12
y=4
Now that we have the value of y, then we go back to the first equation and substitute in order to get the value of x.
x-y=-11
x-4=-11
x=-11+4
x=-7
