The answer to the above question is "Yes!"

Democracy and Christianity is possible in China as a peaceful movement, which would be accepted by both the people in China as well as by their government. Today, in the West, many Chinese are Christians and have learned to live within the principles of a democracy. So, my answer is "yes" democracy without war and without violence is possible.

This movement is not in the making as of yet and, when it happens, the people in charge of this movement will be righteous and upright, seeking not only for their own goodness, but seeking for the goodness for everyone in this world.

Yet, some Americans are afraid of China, so they seek to do everything that they can to undermine China and it's goodness. We (this nation, some of us) did the same to Iraq and any other nation that we PERCEIVED as getting in our way. We caused civil commotion, unrest, and civil war in other nations, we are the cause for death and war outside of American soil!

With good people in China (good leaders) good things will be done. If such people are put out of the way or assassinated, this world will become a more dangerous place in which to live.

When a good leader understands the question and know the solutions, why do Americans fight and insist on an imperfect and corrupt society with people killing each other?

Don't the good guys win and the bad guys lose in American ideology?

Would you not say that the West always has very poor principles, where Americans are always trying to cause civil war in other nations? And that Western ideology is a very hurtful and destructive thing.

Because there are good Chinese people, who live in both China and America, it would behoove this nation to support them. By supporting good people who strive to be up to God's standards, we are making our world a better and safer place for all people in which to live. By encouraging divisions and enmities, we are destroying the the planet. A God created ...

Mike, I read your statement and gave your profile a second look. Perhaps, I am a real dummy. I know that my postings look kiddish. That I am willing to admit. Whenever a professional in the field says something, we should all sit up and take notice. What a professional says matters. I have a friend, whose classmate (peers) worked for the Carter administration as a policy adviser in Russian affairs. Its not very professional of you to make statements like you've done, here, in Yahoo! Answers. It is very unprofessional. Yet, I should take note of your statements and respect them.

I am not a Democrat nor Republican. But, I do not like corruption in government especially at the highest of levels.

Thank you for your very insightful comments. It was noted and appreciated.

By the way care to e-mail me privately.

abenezerscroogexxx, the goal of the Imperial family is to return to China and to maintain good government back in China. They are from China's ancient Chou Dynasty. But, after living in exile for the past 130 years, many of them have become solid Americans with American ideas on how things should be done. Many of them have worked for the US government in various capacities. All or most think like Americans, yet without the cultural bias. They will have to learn to work with China's communist government, while maintaining their values and principles. Changing China from a communist state to a mild democracy in not an impossible task as most people in China already understand democratic principles. All it needs is a good leader (honorable and upright) and the will of the people and approval of honest government officials in China. Such will happen and will be done (democratic rule without violence or civil war).

By the way, I have very little respect for the Carter administration because in my letters and telephone calls to people from the Carter administration, they feel like they are "know it all!" Peanut farmers, outsiders to DC, wanting to create reform without knowing the insides of government.

Yes. Anything is possible. even the conversion of dictatorship to democracy but when one begins expounding righteous and goodness with a regime which has demonstrated viciousness against its own people, then I feel Polyanna is at work. Much of this sounds like the teachings of Lenin before the Russian revolution and remember what happened there.

Yes. India is an example of a democracy with over a billion people. But I think the jury is out on whether it does happen. I think if it happens it may not be a "Western-style" democracy. It may be more centralised an less tolerarant of freedom of speech and political-pluralism. One possible development would be what one might call "one-party democracy". We've already seen a flavour of what this might mean from the system of village-elections in some rural areas of China, in which there are multiple candidates but only Communist party members. I think oneday that will develop nationwide, possibly including direct-elections for the National Peoples Congress.

You claim to have been involved with the peace negotiations after the first Gulf war.

However I am really beginning to wonder if you know what you are talking about.

I was involved with the Egypt project during the Carter administration. I know a little about the Middle East myself.

Over the past ten years I have been involved with a project to get better treatment for political prisoners in The People's Republic of China, including Christians and members of the Falun Gong movement.

Recently, I have also been involved with some trade negotiations with the People's Republic of China.

I know a little about The People's Republic of China myself.

I am beginning to wonder, do you really know what you are talking about?

Chinese are all over the Western World, buying up real estate, having their children educated at Western universities.

They visit China & relatives, but have no desire to live there.

The Olympics will be held in China next year, so China is currently westernising itself for this event.

China has problems that are growing, pollution, lack of resources [importing a lot of raw materials]. May even have a famine one day if the weather changes.
Also gambling and drugs are huge in China.
A political system will evolve in China to suit the times, but it will not be democracy. [in my opinion].

Democracy is possible in China, or any country, as long as the leaders don't get $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ hungry and are honest with their people, and listen to what the people want, cheers.
