Definitely black shoes. Neutral shoes would stand out like a sore thumb.

I WOULD say the neutral shoes are a BIG NO NO NO NO NO!!!... not with black at least.... Wear those with something like Brown...

52 is the new 32..... (your 'age' should not have a major impact on your shoes...or any clothing item for that case)

Black is very sleek and can be accessorized quite easily...

Shoes are an Important part of your look... and you can have a lot of fun with them.... black shoes could work (i dont think thats 'funeralish' at all)... but DON't Limit yourself....

A tweed grey shoe with black opaque tights would look nice and professional.... or shiny patent leather pumps or flats would look suitable... these are IN this season...

if you dont want all black.... try some grey tights... with black shoes...

i'm 21, and I would wear all of this.... and i think you would look nice... 52 or 62 or 82... (well maybe not 82).... :-)

Same age as you. Black can be very severe, and can be very striking, if the accessories are right. I'm not sure what you mean by neutral shoes? Is that beige? Not good with black. With black, make sure that you have colour at the neck i.e scarf, jewellery etc, to throw colour up to your face. However, you mention that this is a promotion. Therefore I assume that you are already very good at your job
and your employers feel the same. Looking confident is far more important than looking good. They want someone who can do the job first and foremost. If you set your standards to high in the fashion department from day one, you will feel stressed to continue that regime in order to compete. Your skills are what counts. Wear only what feels comfortable and what is you - if you look like you have tried too hard, this will be obvious in your interview. In my experience, nice smile, groomed hair and fresh make-up coupled with confidence went along way to getting that job. Hope you get the promotion - if you do post it on this site. Best of luck!

I would not where anything silk to an inteview. Silk does not say professional at all..... A suit is preferred and definetely black shoes.

Good Luck

Yeah, that sounds good. Black shoes with a black suit would make you look too gloomy. You need something to brighten up your outfit a bit.

Black shoes would be best, but how about some color up top, like a silk scarf, multi colored and gold earrings, not too big....don't want to look like a funeral attendee...

Neutral shoes with neutral hose would be fine.

Or sheer black with black heels.

(I too am in your age group, well truthfully, older).

If you want to stand out wear red shoes or gold shoes or some other bright color. but if you want to blend in go with a neutral shoe.
