Excellent question.
Holland, like the vast majority of other Northern European nations is rapidly losing their individual identities, their religion, and way of life. Most of Northern Europe, including Holland tend to be more socialist than most parts of the world, and as a result Holland has become a haven for individuals from poorer nations - especially from Northern Africa. As more and more foreigners (legal and illegal) claim the expansive social programs currently in place in Holland, the more people will come to take advantage of the good will of the Dutch people. The economic pressure that is put on tax payers and government because of free health benefits, free education, welfare payments, food supplements, the list goes on and on.
Take a look at other countries that are just as liberal, and socialist as Holland. France is a good example. Today nearly 20% of the French population are from the Middle East – most of which are illegal. It is estimated that by 2030 the French population will be almost 50% non French born, and the religion will shift from one of the Christian religions to Islam. The same can be said as you go into northern Europe Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. Leaders of countries (all countries) seem to be interested in what is politically expedient for themselves instead of looking out for their people.
To make matters worse, when a guest from another country refuses to learn their host county’s language, or contribute to the betterment of their new country, or make demands for things, or services that put a strain on the host government, then its time to take a long look at “the way we’ve always done it” to a more realistic way of dealing with an ever growing problem.

I personally would not mind a Dutch version on the side, but as it is I really like the international feel of Y/A. Even though the majority on here seem to stem from the USA. I don't like the time difference with some of my regular contacts and friends but that problem is unsurmountable. I sort of stumbled upon it when I opened a Yahoo account for an E-Mail address , asked a linguistic question I have had for years. Started surfing and then discovered the Polls and Survey section. Answered a few, got a few best answers, got myself a Fan. And before I knew it I was hooked. I'm Dutch and living in Amsterdam.

I wonder if the statistics are correct because I hear a lot of different statistics.
I assume they don't include illegal aliens.
But this year for instance a lot of new Polish people came. Are they in the statistics?
For the future prospect: Dutch people get less children than the imigrants, thus, says a studie, in a couple of decades, there will be more originally non-Dutch people in Holland.
Someone argued that our Queen and children etc, are not Dutch. If you go back in time far enough, none of the Dutch are Dutch because the country didn't exist.

You’re the one who’s assuming. I live in Rotterdam, and I can tell you the figures you quoted are technically correct, but those numbers do not take into account illegals, nor the children of illegals. Sort of like how the Americans count their illegal immigrants. In the States they can’t figure out if there are 12 million or 20 million illegals in the country. As far as not answering the question that was asked, I agree with you on that point, but I understand the passion, fervor, and growing dismay, and frustration of most Europeans when this subject is brought up. And if you had read abono.. answer more carefully you would have realized that the figures he gave were not for Holland, but for France.

Actually, the above figure is quite wrong. in fact it's about 95,9%
15,676,060 out of 16,357,992 people living in the Netherlands in 2007 are Dutch and 681,932 are non-Dutch.
These are the official Dutch government figures, and this is the correct answer to the above question.
This figure states the number of people officially residing in the Netherlands and their nationality, Dutch or non-Dutch. That was the question and the answer is 95,9% Dutch. Period.
...
The 81% figure is the answer to another question that's not being asked and the second answer is an essay on how Europe is being overrun by immigrants which also is not what's being asked... Read people!!! Don't assume....
I'm offended by the previous two answers because they imply that I'm not a Dutchman and I definitely AM a Dutchman!
...
Benjamin; it was a very simple question; How many people in Holland of the 16.4 million people living there are actually Dutch? The answer is the one I gave. You are correct in saying that those figures do not include unregistered illegal aliens. Still, I'm offended by the first two answers because my father was born in Switzerland which technically/statistically makes me an allochtoon, just like our entire Royal family... The first two answers imply that myself, Beatrix, Willem Alexander and Amalia are NOT Dutch. That's offensive to me personally.
And obviously the figure that I say is wrong is the 81% mentioned in the first answer.
The 81% is the percentage of "natives" or "autochtonen" and that means both parents Dutch and born in the Netherlands. Officially and statististically, our entire royal family is allochtoon or non-native, not many Dutch people may realise this but it's a fact.
@Dutchgirl; You misunderstood what I was saying, sorry...
I said that the Dutch Royal Family IS Dutch, but that the first two answers imply that they are NOT Dutch. And also that I am not Dutch.
I'm officially an allochtoon because my father was born in Switzerland.
Same as the entire royal family, they all have one parent who wasn't born in the Netherlands too, that makes the entire Royal Family allochtoon.
But they ARE Dutch. Dutch, but allochtoon, like me.
The 81% is the percentage of "native"-Dutch living in the Netherlands, or in Dutch "Autochtoon"... If you're not autochtoon, or native, you're allochtoon. But if you're allochtoon, you're still Dutch, like me and like the Royal family, it just means that not both your parents were born in the Netherlands so you're officially not native or autochtoon but allochtoon...
The 95,9% is the percentage of people with the Dutch nationality and that was the question, not the percentage of "natives"...

Kevinjde..., I bet you never expected such lively responses to your question, even though you never got an answer to that question. It seems that your question took on a life, and a direction of its own.
