why we call olds 70 , 442 & 445?this is what for?i know that is about carbrator and so on but i want lots of info

When GM introduced the Oldmobile 442 in 1964, they named it because it had a four-barrel carburetor, four-speed stick transmission and dual exhausts. It was an option on Cutlass models and became its own model in 1965. See source for details.

Oldsmobile 442 is the high performance model in the Olds Cutlass line.
455 is the cubic inch displacement of the engine.

Four barrel carburetor,Four speed manual trans,Dual exhaust.Even better if it had the W-30 option.
I never heard of a 445.
