She doesnt look heavily pregnant to me. My platies tend to look like they swallowed a marble when they are a week from having the babies.
In my experience (maybe my fish are just picky) putting platies in a breeding net just stresses them out and causes them to abort the pregnancy.

I tend to take the natural route when breeding them. I just let them do their thing, but I make sure to have plenty of fry sized hiding places (lots of fine plants like hornwort and java moss and those teeny tiny terracotta pots turned upsidedown). I also take the males out of the tank so that mom isnt stressed and doesnt force them out.

It seems to work well for my tank.

The female "long finned Platy",which is actually across between a "long finned Sword-tail" female and a normal finned male doesn't look very pregnant at all. The belly shape of live-bearing fish is not as good an indicator of pregnancy as the appearance of the "gravid spot". When your female is ready to deliver you will be able to see the eyes of the fry in her gravid spot.
If the male of your pair has an overly long and poorly formed gonopodium they may not be capable of breeding at all.

if she is pregnant, each time quickly she'll supply delivery. putting around the backside is fantastic. some fish will do this as a results of further weight of the appearance up little ones, and to discover a quiet place removed from the different fish. i could advise which you keep looking at her. if she supplies delivery interior the subsequent week, you're fantastic. if she produces no little ones, then she would desire to have dropsy, the place you will would desire to make the call to the two attempt to handle her or placed her out of her misery. i desire this helps, and that i desire for the wonderful.

that fish is not pregnat because that is a male!!!

You can tell this by the colouration pattern and the fin structure, all breds of platies end up with a swollen belly when become mature adults, if this was a female she would be much large than that in size and her belly would be a white colouration and heavily swollen.
