Find values of a and b such that
(2+√3)(4-√3)=a+b√3

multiply on the left side and get
8 - 2√3 + 4√3 - √9 and simplify this to
8 + 2√3 - 3
5 + 2√3 = a + b√3
now just look and answer
a = 5 and b = 2

8-3 +4√3-2√3 = 5 +2√3
a = 5, b = 2

first foil out (2+sqaure root of 3)(4-square root of 3) then it should be much easier to solve
