and it's not simple geometric shapes like triangles or rectangles. It's like complex geometries with intersecting lines and compound curves. They look like pictures, except they're not pictures of anything. That's the best I can describe it.

I do it all the time. Especially if I'm trying to fall asleep.
I start out with a wobbling bubble (like a soap bubble) and then tis starts morphing into many different shapes (in color) by itself. I just let my mind wander off, thinking about many different shapes and it gets me fast asleep. It also very fun to see the images your brain creates.

Hey that happens to me all the time, i thought it must happen to everyone. I don't know exactly what is it cause I've never thought it was serious enough to look up but i'm pretty sure it's totally normal. I've always just thought of it as a distorted reflection of something you've just seen on the back of your eyelids when you close your eyes, that's just my weird explaination for it but it's no biggy whatever it is :)

Yes it's normal. The combination of the light around you as well as images in the brain produce them. Pretty trippy, right? It's like when you close your eyes on a summer day but see red/orange because of the sun. Hope this helped.

naw just kidding, I have no idea. However, it could happen if you have been staring a lot at geometric figures. I see arrows moving up when I close my eyes after playing a lot of DDR
