I'm not really sure this a way to "prevent" it from happening, but I do know the frustration of it...I've done plenty of embarrassing things, haha. Although this probably won't be able to stop it from replaying, it might change your perception on it : I would suppose, the best thing to do is learn from it. If there was any small lesson that came from it, hold tight to it for future reference. If not, then just smile and laugh it off. If it was something minor, maybe it put a smile on someone's face who needed t be lifted up. :]

Boy, have I ever. I'm going to tell what I did in nursing school. It was only our first year and we were learning medical terms. Hydrocephalus means water on the brain. When we were given a test, that was asked, "what is the correct term for water on the brain." Ah, I knew that one, so I wrote down hydrophalus. I thought I was real smart. When I got the test back it was marked wrong. I said, out loud in class, "just because I left out the 'c e' you marked it wrong. She told me to go home and look it up and if I could justify it, she would give me the points. So I did. Next day i was hoping she forgot...she didn't. She asked if I could justify my wording. and did I know the meaning of what I put down. I mumbled the answer and she made me say it aloud. I said, it means water on the penis. After everyone had a good laugh, I think the redness went away. That was over 30 yrs ago and believe it or not, it still haunts me. Jeesh, I hated that day.

yes this happens to me all the time.
unfortunately, there is no way to prevent it...stupid things happen to everybody! You can try to be more careful next time, I guess, and learn from your mistakes?
But the problem isn't preventing stupid things from happening, the problem is to learn to deal with it afterwards. I know it can feel very overwhelming, and you feel like everybody is staring at you and knows what just happened...But you have to learn to stay cool and and do something to take your mind off it...because later on you are gonna look back and laugh!!!
really!!!

You must be Irish.
I once saw an Irishman walking along the Que and mumbling to himself and he hauled off and smacked himself in the face so hard it spun him around. Qricky!!

Don't resist it. Your mind's just in the process of understanding it, and trying to figure out what you're going to do next time.
