I think it's great that you are already thinking about that, but I wouldn't stress too much. Those are some great aspirations for yourself. I would recommend keeping an open mind. When I was in 7th grade, I wanted to be a dentist. I ended up going to school for finance. So things will change in the next few years. Take some time to look at all the opportunities that you will have in college before really narrowing it down, which for you, probably won't be for a few more years.

I don’t think you should start really thinking and/or focusing on college until high school.
Unless you have more than one option for high school, in which case the better the high school, the better your chances are of getting into a good college…

One thing you will want to do once you start high school is try and get into honors, IB, AP classes, and get involved in student groups (especially those that have community service or leadership aspects). Colleges look at the whole package, not just grades and test scores! Learn a foreign language! Many Liberal Arts colleges have language requirements that you can opt out of if you already have a language under our belt. Try and be “well rounded” in your sciences. (I.e. Biology and Physics/Biology and Chemistry).
If you are interesting in journalism, try joining the newspaper and/or yearbook staff.

One thing you could do *now* is learn (and practice) time management skills.
I.e. you can set aside time specifically for homework, practice getting assignments done sooner rather than later (i.e. the night or morning before it is do.). You can also read books that you will be assigned in high school. Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Othello, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, Lord of the Flies, etc.

Good luck!

It is great that you have goals and want to do well. Don't worry yourself too much about it right now, though. Continue to work hard, get good grades, enjoy your swimming and other sports. In a few years when the time for college is a little closer you will have a better idea of the exact direction you want to go. Enjoy what you are doing now and continue to pursue your interests and dreams.

Don't worry about college for a few years. It's good to have a dream about being a sports announcer, but just remember that the number of people who make a decent living in that career is probably smaller than the number of professional athletes, and that is not a large number.

I agree with jon_mac. I strong suggest that at grade seven, you should worry more about learning the correct spelling of words. I recommend learning a new word for each lap you cover anytime.

Just try to do good in junior high so that you get into the honors program in high school. I'm working on my college applications now and it's not fun. =(

Then you might want to work on the spelling, I hear that you cannot go to college if you cannot spell it.

You're still too young. Colleges don't look at what you did in middle school.
