Wrong...heart attacks is numero uno. Men have more HA than women. Pregnancy is a result of both a man & a woman. You didn't know that?

Not all women get pregnant and men have more major health problems then females.

What does women taking off after pregnancy have to do with insurance rates? If they want to continue their insurance they still have to pay while they are taking off...and men have the option to take of on paternity leave after the birth of a child, they just choose not to most of the time.

Look, everyone gets sick and everyone dies. That is just the way it is and no one knows their own future health or mortality. Population statistics are not meaningful or applicable to any specific, individual member of that population.

Besides, it is the system that is screwed up. America's citizens (or social/ehtnic/religious/economic, etc. groups) are not responsible and are not the problem.

1.Other than South Africa, America is the only developed country in the world that does not provide healthcare for all of its citizens.

2.The US has the most expensive healthcare system in the world. It is almost twice as expensive as every other developed nation. This is largely due to administrative costs which account for 19-25% of healthcare costs, and up to 34% at for-profit hospitals.

3.Yet, the US ranks 26th in infant mortality, 24th in the number of healthy years a person can expect to live, and 37th in terms of overall heathcare - putting America’s healthcare system in the company of Cuba and Slovenia rather than Canada and Western European nations.

4.And, despite ludicrous right-wing anecdotal claims of high dissatisfaction among those who live in countries with universal healthcare, the reality is that, with the exception of Italy, Americans are more dissatisfied with their healthcare than are the citizens of every other developed nation, including England, France, Germany, and Canada. Moreover, US doctors spend less time with patients that do doctors in other nations.

Pregnancy is about the fertilization of an egg. Sexual behavior is a separate matter. However, one thing is certain; and that is that if men had to give birth, there would be an abortion clinic on every street corner of every city, town, and village of every country in the world (right across the street from the Topless Bar and Auto Parts store).

On an individual basis, women as a whole have more medical concerns and problems than men and therefore pay more for health insurance. On a group health insurance plan, the cost difference may be different.

Men have more heart attacks and often more medical problems than women. Many women are never pregnant. Having a baby costs less than having a triple by-pass. I don't think anyone will save anything having men paying lower medical insurance premiums except the men.

to imply that women use medical insurance more therefore they should pay more is ludicrous.

If you want to drop the cost of medical care start by getting everyone you know to stop going to the doctor for every little thing, make it so that people have to pay a larger share of the burden for using insurance for "elective" or Personal Choice procedures, take birth control and contraception off the list and make people pay for it, and all things like this. When people stop using the system insurance rates will drop and people will start taking care of themselves.

no. pregnancy is relatively cheap compared to heart disease. And women are more likely to have preventative care, so they're less expensive in the long run.

And women taking time off work isn't a health insurance issue. At all.

Insurance premiums are based on the risks and costs of providing medical care. I'm sure the thousands of actuarials and other analysts working in the insurance industry have already considered this one factor, as well as many others.

Most of the fees you pay in insurance is due to escalation medical costs that is caused by increasing number of people who can't afford to pay their bills.
