i have to write a paper on the pros of nationalism. i'm doing some research, but i can't really find anything on just the pros of it. so if you guys can help i'd really appreciate it.

A sense of pride. Uniting of all races, classes and religions to form the greater good. I know this does not always happen, but it does in America (In general). The cons can really start with everything I just mentioned as well except add one faction is a scapegoat.

I am not nationalistic and I don't believe in nationalism so it's hard to think of its pros. I guess in wartime or in time of great difficulty, it helps the people of a country to stay united. It gives people a pride of being the national of that country and encourages them to do things for the common good of the people.

Depends on how you view nationalism, it may be positive in as far as it helps to establish a strong group identity which may preserve languages and custom which may otherwise disappear. besides in some cases nationalism has been a sort of glue which keeps a community going in times of stress
