ok why is abortion a controversial issue. i know its becuz of ppl and their opinions. but like what are the many broad sides of abortion. obviously u have ur against side and for side. but like what are their reasons? like if ur against u would say, whats a reason for being agianst it. and same for being for abortion. think of it like a bubble diagram. with abortion in the middle then two different lines, one saying "against" and one saying "for" and what issues break off from both of those

The main argument for abortion is that when the unwanted babies are born there is no one to take care of them. The main point of this argument is that babies get put into orphanages or get brought up by drug addicts, prostitutes, or other scum bags. Another thing is that if it were outlawed pregnant women might go to another country to get it done where the hospitals are not as good as they are here- this could result in the woman dying.

The argument against abortion is that once a woman is pregnant, there is a human life inside her womb. If the pregnant woman has an abortion, it is equal to murder in many people's eyes. Another argument is that god has a plan for every human life to do something in this world that is important. It is also said by this side of the argument: "what if your mother had an abortion?".

It is a very controversial issue mostly because religion gets involved- most religious people are very passionate about the issue because they believe it is against god's will for people to have an abortion. Religious leaders tell people that it is the only issue they should care about when they are voting for political leaders.

I do not agree with abortion generally. In several cases, it is use of bad judgment on the part the two people that had sex. It should not in any way be used as a birth control substitute. I am really surprised that there have not been more election debate questions regarding this.

Some people are pro-choice. I would like to ask these people why exactly it is that they have the perspective they do. There should be exceptions to the abortion issues, such as if the child will have a major defect or some other extreme case. This is because a mother and father might find it inhumane to put a child through life with an extreme deformity that would leave them in a near vegetative state. Although, I personally feel that you should generally keep the child if the woman was raped, it is respectable to the woman in question to still leave her that choice just for the fact that she did not consent. It is possible that she was not even coherent as to what was occurring in the situation at hand. Therefore, to insist that she must keep the baby under those conditions is not fair to her. In conclusion, I do discourage it, and it should be outlawed, except if the motive to abort falls under those criteria.

I'm against it because it's killing a baby. An innocent. That baby didn't ask to be put there....what gives any one the right to kill it? And they have a heartbeat by the time a woman would even know she was pregnant in the first place. A heartbeat means it's ALIVE.

I don't believe in a woman doing it regardless....not for rape...or incest...that baby can still be born and put up for adoption to a loving couple who can take care of it. And there's NO such thing as a medically necessary abortion. That's merely trading a life for a life. Who's choice is it to make that decision? Who made these people God?

And all that crap about "it's my body, it's my choice..." Well...why didn't you protect your body from getting pregnant? You can take birth control, use a condom...or simply NOT have sex if you don't want to have a baby. I think that it's ridiculous how quickly people jump to that decision simply because they were too immature or selfish to keep it from happening in the first place.

And I don't care if I get thumbs down for this....I think that the morals of people nowadays are deplorable. What will you tell your future children? Oh yeah...I got pregnant before...but I Killed your sister/brother simply because it's my body.

I'm pro choice and I'm a bit sick of explaining it. Most people I know are of the same opinion as me that is moderatly pro choice, abortion isn't nice but it can be necessary and it's up to the woman (yes, the woman, not the man, it's HER body, not his, I know it's not fair but neither is life, sunshine!)

Forcing women to have unwanted babies...is sick. It's bad for the woman, it's not a good start for the baby.

And if you don't like it, that's ok, but there's no possible way to be anti-abortion without trying to force others to agree with you.

The current UK limit is 24 weeks and I agree that it should be lowered maybe to about 12-15 weeks. But abortion is an option many women need to take advantage of. Sure there are examples of people doing it for selfish reasons, but it's not an easy decision and we need to stop persecuting those who feel they have no other choice.

Also before it was legal so many abortions were performed in unhygenic conditions by people with little training. This would happen again if it was made illegal and the infections, injuries etc that could be caused would be horrific.

OH...and by the way..."how would you feel if your mother had an abortion?"...er you wouldn't feel anything, dumbasses, you wouldn't be here to feel anything. The doctors advised my mother to have an abortion, how do I feel about that? Nothing really, I wasn't there, I don't know how she felt, she didn't do it obviously, but it seems irrevelant to me because if she did I would never have existed so...I really don't feel it's relevant. It doesn't affect my ability to see all sides of the arguement and judge for myself. Thanks.

The con side argues that it is the murder of a child. The Pope and the Catholic church are also opposed to abortion. The pro side also says that mental and social probloms, along with depression are increased with abortion patients.

The pro side says that abortion should be a choice between a woman and her docter. They say that since the organism is not born, and is still in embreyo form, abortion is not murder, since the embreyo does not feel or think. They say that the church and state are separate, so demands by the church cannot be reason to make abortion illegal. They argue that unwanted pregnancy can ruin a struggling persons life, just because of one mistake. They would also like to have an option for rape victims.

I am against it for issues of just for birth control, but if the mother's life is in danger, like if she finds out she has cancer and has othet kids to take care of and has to start treatments, the baby would not survive, like they have such a severe disorder and would be in pain until they passed naturally, incest, rape. Those are the only reasons I would EVER consider it.
Unwanted/unloved children: That's why there is adoption. Too many women tend to keep the unwanted babies so they can collect Welfare.

ok, when you have an abortion they are killing the baby, that was suppose to be born. You are messing with God's plans. He wanted that baby to be born, but instead you decide that you don't feel like having a baby.Oh well you got pregnant, because it was your chioce. So you live with it, you take care of the baby or put it up for adoption, don't kill it. What if ur mom had decided she didn't want to give birth? How would u feel having to of not been born, or to of never felt?I bet u would feel pretty bad.

You ask for MY opinion. Years ago my dauther asked this question. I struggled with my beliefs, tried to give the best advice I could with utmost understanding of her situation. The outcome she'll never regret, our whole family enjoys his baseball & soccer games, and he is a wonderful blessing upon us. "Against " or "for" depends on your situation and family values. I am with you on your decision.

Its controversial because you have extremist on each side. First you have the insane pro-choicer who will take days off work to go stand outside congress to ***** and whine about this or that when they think something violates certain rights... The you have the lunatic pro-lifers that will go and blow up an abortion clinic and kill people in the name of "saving lives" which is oxymoron.

Pro-choice but sensible.

Against abortion. If you know you don't want baby there is hundred ways to protect yourself or just keep your legs together. It isn't the baby's fault you made a mistake. Don't let the little creature pay for it. Maybe just if you're raped than it isn't your fault.
