Couldn't it simply be that someone else was more qualified?

I'm a fat (oops, full figured) white male with 4 college degrees. Do I get to play the fat card, or do I just have to suck it up and say I'm not what the employer is looking for?

Because it's far easier to blame anyone but one's self anymore.....Too many people have the "It MUST be someone else's fault" syndrome..

what an employer is looking for is someone who can do the job.
if there are many applicants to choose from.
the employer or manager then picks the person most like themselves. this is to be expected. people pick what they know.
since they only know themselves that is usually their first choice.
or who they would most like to see in their environment.
in other words younger, thiner, friendly, good looking or a person who has friends that have these attributes..

If I were a manager in IT or Engineering, where its mostly guys.
I would most likely hire an attractive woman, for any position I can find.

If a woman is the manager she will usually pick a man over another woman.

a fat man is not penalized as much as a fat woman.
theres also a big difference between, big boned, fat, very fat and gross. its a matter of proportion.

unfortunately the way our society is going, you may be the average man, right now. so there is not as much competition as you might think.

demographically speaking most of the people you will be competing against are older and fatter. and the managers hiring will be older and fatter.

as to the complainers. they have to believe that other people control their lives. they do not want to take responsibility for themselves.
but by avoiding personal responsibility they give up all the real power they have in this life.
because in order to get what they want, they have to change themselves.
not on the outside but on the inside.

here what you need to know in order to get what you want in life.
1 know what you want.
2 know that you deserve it.
3 know that you can get it.
4 expect it to be easy.
5 be willing to do what ever it takes to get it.

do you know that the first 4 steps are the hardest. and that step 5 the easiest.

Well, I will add this however, it won't answer your question. I work at _______________ I can't say but the other day I noticed some forms which are filled out by psychology interns who review job applications for future interns. One of the questions on the form is:

1. Minority preference 5 points.

So, if you're a minority you automatically get credited 5 points on your job application which is a blow to white males no matter what their credentials are.

Weight, race, and age are all factors which make it more difficult for many to find a good job.

Because they need someone to blame. It's easier that way.
