i watched this movie based off a book titled "The Secret." the movie talks about the secret which is the law of attraction, which states that every individual is a magnet. and when an individual thinks positively he or she will attract positive things in his or her life. you have to be thankful for what you have and visualize the things that you want in life, rather than thinking about the things you don't want, and you'll achieve anything that you really want in life. but the question is ... does this way of thinking really work?

I would recommend the Silva Mind Control Method rather than The Secret. My mother, who is a single mother, and has issues concerning her job (she is a dancer, an Indian one, so it's hard to find jobs) and relationships, has used it, and I have seen a tremendous difference in her. I have also used it for some small things, and found it to work.

Also take a look at Shamanism.

All of these things, including The Secret, use the same premise, however, so if you don't believe in The Secret you may not belive in this suggestions. On the other hand, you may not be disposed to the way The Secret informs one of things, so take a look at these options.

I saw it too, and it's very popular with my friends. Looking at my own life, i think that sometimes when i have focussed, either positively or negatively, on something, there hasn't been any tendency either way that it continued or didn't. It also suggests that people who are starving, have terminal diseases and so forth have no-one to blame but themselves, which is outrageous and encourages people not to care for others because they see their misfortune as their own fault. It also tends to talk about trivial, material things as worth focussing on, like money, fast cars or red bicycles, rather than things like peace, love, health or adequate food and wisdom, and it talks about not being against things, which means that the bad things there are in the world are not opposed and can get worse, because "all that is needed for evil to triumph is that the good do nothing." (Edmund Burke). The Universe is too big a place for this to work for any one individual.

Having said that, there is a grain of truth in it. That is, if you come across as expecting something or focus on it, other people can pick up on that through subtle cues such as body language, confidence, tone of voice and the like. It's like, if you believe you can go out with someone that may show in your attitude with them and make it happen, or if you believe someone will buy something you're trying to sell them they may well do so. That sort of thing does happen, and it can be explained through some kind of social psychological understanding of interaction. How broadly it works depends on how widely what happens to you is dominated by social interaction. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
