Yes. Many people forget that 'Palestine' was actually a British concept and before that area was under the Ottoman Empire... and before that... Go back and back... The Jewish Nation. There is a reason why archaeologists find so much Jewish History there... Because they had the land. They conquered it from the people of Cana'an at G-ds command... after getting out of Egypt.
But enough history. The fact is that in 49 they conquered the land and since then have done more for the region than any of the other surrounding states... They have many Noble Peace Prize winners, are pioneers in technology and different areas of medicine.
They have been the West's constant ally, much needed in that region!
Not to mention the fact that most Jews feel they need a place to run if there is another Holocaust, or something like that. It's still fresh in peoples minds, especially when you see beloved family members with numbers etched into their arms. The Jews have been persecuted throughout much of history (Spanish Inquisition, expulsion from Protugal, expulsion from England and France, pogroms in Russia and Poland, Ukraine, etc. To name a few.)
So yeah I think Israel was long overdue. Check out this site, I reccomend it to everyone, I like it a lot. www.virtualjerusalem.com. Has a lot of good stuff.

Of course, nearly every nationality after the Second World War. The British had Great Britain, the French had France, so on and so forth. The Jewish people had not had a nation of their own in several thousand years and the nations of the world had ignored the plight of the Jewish people for far too long.

You would have to go back and ask Moses that, since he was the first one to go there. Solomon liked it, David liked it. Hear tell, Jesus liked it.
Created, when?

Of course. And it should not be broken up because regardless of whether we agree or disagree, the Jews are God's chosen people.
