It might be that you simply have not found the right job for your talents yet. You did not include what your college education major was, but it mat be helpful to think about how that particular major can be well utilized and an asset to a particular company. Practice going on an interview and prepare to talk about the positive skills of your educational background and your preparedness. Talk about what you bring to the table.
Do not blame your weight. That is a dead end and will always lead you down a path of helplessness. The good you bring to everything that you do, is beyond the issue of weight.

What's being full figured got to do with it?
Did you ever think that maybe you weren't the right candidate for the job? Why does it always have to be about race? I get jobs just fine. But then again I'm not Obese (if that's what you mean by full figured) so maybe it's different for you.
I hope you get the job soon anyway.

Edit:
Nice constructive criticism there Doctor $ I agree with the last part of what you said.

It is difficult for everybody to find good employment.
There are lots of successful black women like Oprah Winfray, Beyonce, Tyra Banks, Queen Latifah, Joan B Johnson, Cassandra Mills, and Condi Rice.

Well the DMV surely doesn't discriminate or any government job for that matter. Seriously I think that they (employers) consider that sooner or later health issues will cost them time and money, overweight people are more likely to develop problems related to their weight and if a thin person applies they would rather hire them. I don't think race is a consideration but you can play that card if you want to. Sad but true.

Sexism.

It is not fair, but if the job was between you and a 118lb lady with same credentials she would likely get the job. Unless the interviewer was a overweight women, who might then prefer someone heavier then herself to make herself feel better.

There is also the matter of health insurance and missed time, but that is a much smaller issue, it really comes down to sexism

I have interview potential candidates before, and when a woman came in who was skinner and better looking than the ones working there, and believe me that wasn't hard, they would all slam the candidate.

And be live me,...The first 5 to 30 seconds are very critical. First impressions are very hard to change. Dress appropriately. Big smile, firm hand shake, sit forward in the chair, look energetic and enthuse.

I've found that it's hard for full figured people to gain employment regardless of weight. Overweight people can be seen as lazy or likely to become ill. It's a subconscious thing mostly. As for being African-American, our country has a long way to go!
Go in there with confidence and make a lot of eye contact!

It's difficult to get employment (above a normal retail job) for people of any race or body shape. Get real. Who are these people just walking into jobs?

It isn't what you look like or what color your skin is. Maybe there just aren't alot of Jobs open in the feild you want. Maybe you aren't as qualified or have as much experience as the employers would like. Maybe you're standards are to high of where you should start, how much you should get paid etc. Maybe you need to work on you reseme and interveiw skills.

Hope You Find Job!

it's not because your full figured it's because your black it's simple as that

they don't want to hire you because your black!!

I've seen plenty of employed "full figured" people, so it's not because of that! you probably have a ton of degrees by the way your asking this question I assume that you do (i'm not being sarcastic btw)

America is a racists country especially when it comes to employing black people. no one else wants to admit this but it's true , and no, the way you asked this question you probaly don't have an attitude either so it's not your attitude!

white ppl need to stop making excuses for other white people being racists

ITS BECAUSE YOUR BLACK

end of story
