I agree the other answers, but what they don't mention is the people. Despite the fact that Bulgaria is a poor country, the citizens are the most friendly and genuinely welcoming people I have ever met.
I saved for years to buy a modest holiday home there, and go at every opportunity.
A holiday in one of the Black Sea resorts, or the capital Sofia is a great way to spend some time, but I would encourage anyone to hire a car (very cheap here) and explore the rural areas and smaller towns, where the true heart of this wonderful country is to be found.

I'm so happy that the other answerers gave so positive thoughts about Bulgaria! As I am a citizen of this country I have to agree with all of them.
As a recommendation, I say Veliko Tyrnovo is a "must visit" city. If you have luck, you can see the Sound and Light show at the Tsarevets Hill.
I hope you come for a visit and enjoy your stay! :)

Sofia is Bulgaria's capital and its biggest city. Sofia was founded 1000s of years back and today is a town that continues to produce as the country's ethnic and economic centre and so you will have the opportunity to visit it hotelbye . Sofia keeps many valuable monuments to their long and storied past. Visitors discovering the city's streets could see remnants of The Eastern Gate from the times when Sofia was Serdika and Sredets, relationship from the 2nd-4th centuries CE. These remains are exhibited in the underpass linking the Presidential Palace and The Ministerial Council, surrounded by stores selling traditional Bulgarian gifts and rosewater. The Saint Sofia Basilica is one of the gifts of Sofia. Is among the oldest churches in the capital and was the city's significant church through the Middle Ages, and under the Ottomans it absolutely was applied as a mosque.
