Not necessarily. Just remove large things like leaves and then turn on the filter. You will probably need chemicals in it. Draining a pool can cause more trouble than cleaning the water in it.

no. there s many chemicals that can be used and their fairly quick to get clear again. algaecides and a product called floc will clear you right up with a good vacuum
