No, I'm not proud of that and I'm in great shame that things like this could happen in 21st century because of blood and oil thirsty Republican-Neocons leaders as Bush, Cheney and all their cronies. Somehow we only speak about 4000 of our own soldiers, but very rarely we raise our concerns about 1 million or so of innocent Iraqi civilians like children, women and men. Hopefully one day our criminal leaders will stand trial for all war crimes they committed in Iraq and around the world.

Have you noticed that this is the Israel Travel section? In an interview in the Beirut Daily Star on June 12, 1974, Lord Caradon stated: "It would have been wrong to demand that Israel return to its positions of June 4, 1967 because these positions were undesirable and artificial. After all, they were just the places where the soldiers on each side happened to be on the day the fighting stopped in 1948. They were just armistice lines. That's why I didn't demand that the Israelis return to them, and I think we were right not to." .

I didn't realize our leaders had that many bullets
.
Maybe you should be blaming the elements in Iraq that are shooting at each other. We, as Americans, would like nothing better than for the Iraqis to find a way to live peacefully so we could get our fathers, brothers, and sons in uniform out of there.

Judging by the majority of answers given here once again it was proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that majority of Americans are dumb, stupid and incredibly ignorant. Some of them are blood thirsty as their criminal leaders are.

God, I read all the answers given to your question. Majority of those answers not only dumb, but incredibly stupid, ignorant and idiotic. It is very much hard to believe that those answers were given by human beings. America and Americans indeed deserve their leaders and heir fate.

That's just be honest in all respects, eh?
The blood is on everyone's hands. Ours AND theirs. The fact that yes, terrorists/militia forces have killed many civilians too does not absolve the U.S. government of their activities over the past 50 years in Iraq.
We supported Saddam Hussein for years, even helped him seize power decades ago(that's not some liberal story; it's historical fact rarely mentioned in any media) and we supported him in a major war against Iran before turning on him when he got greedy and went after Kuwait (And Iran - Iran is yet another country we meddled with way back in the 50s by ousting their democratically elected government - yes, they had one before the CIA did away with it, hence the later 1979 islamic backlash and their hatred of the U.S.). We didn't care at all about what Saddam was doing to his own people for years, and we didn't care 5 years ago either. Our sanctions in the 90s hurt and contributed to the deaths of thousands of civilians of Iraq, mostly children. When some of the Iraqis stood up against their government post-Gulf War 1 and we vowed to back them up... guess what? We bailed on them instead and they got completely slaughtered. Oh how valiant we were. And with the outcome of this current war, we have effectively replaced a strongman's rule which we supported for years with a pseudo-government which barely controls anything outside of the green zone. And as for elections being a positive thing; of course elections are always a good step in the right direction. However when the Iraqis did vote and have elections, who did they elect? A mostly Shia assembly that is militia backed and loyal to the interests of Iran, are newest sworn enemy and member of the Axis of Evil.
If you're proud of what's been done, then you're either uneducated or a stubbornly blind nationalist fool, loyal to this country contrary to the real facts of the matter. Troops fighting for their country is a brave, noble thing - but this fight was hardly for anything noble.
It's not this simplistic "we got rid of da bad guy, so now they have freedom; we did a good thing, woohoo, yay for us! Freedom is on the march! h'yuck h'yuck. I support da troops, so I'm one of the good guys!" type deal. Stop watching Fox news and grow up already. Their is no true good and bad guys out there. We all have our interests and we fight for them, with some being dirtier and nastier than others of course. People from all towns, cities, and countries fight and die for causes everyday. Better and worse, yes, but not a case of true good vs. evil. It's all about political interests.
For example, Iran wants nuclear energy right now. Why? To build bombs and act like a bunch of murderous lunatics? No, it's much simpler and less dramatic than that. They are one of the countries with the biggest supplies of oil, hence, when they use nuclear energy to power their own country, they can use the oil for SELLING IT to everybody else and become very rich and powerful. Thus, nuclear energy in Iran = Iran is filthy rich and powerful and a rival in the region for Israel. That is the sole reason you are seeing all the alarmist news coverage by our government about Iran, to scare you into supporting another war out of fear that you must save yourself from impending doom from crazed madmen... when it's really all just about economic interests and politics as usual.

I don't believe we are responsible for the Iraqis killing hundreds of thousands of their fellow Iraqis. Those deaths are not our responsibility! Bush and his allies killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, but nowhere near 1 million, and most of them were Iraqi military, rebels, or Al Qaeda. You just can't make up statistics, man, you will get caught every time on Y/A.

Maybe a small amount of your criticism might be better directed at the Islamic terrorists.
And, yes, I am proud that our leaders have the courage and moral fortitude to confront an ideology that prides itself on slaughtering innocent people to help further its agenda of hatred and world domination. I am ashamed of the countries that are content to sit on the sidelines while more innocent people fell victim to this radical blood lust.
